Intentional Learning Fellowships

Intentional Learning Fellowships are an opportunity for vocational ministers to learn together and build relationships with one another. By "vocational minister" we mean those who serve on church staff and are recognized by their congregation as a minister of the gospel.

Associational ministers are encouraged to invite other vocational ministers in their surrounding communities. They do not have to be a minister of an SCBA church to participate.

Improve your preaching this summer by signing up for our SCBA Preaching ILF. This will be a unique experience over Zoom that will last for 8 sessions. This is not only for pastors, but anyone who teaches or preaches. Also, it is open to non-SCBA ministers.

You will need to be able to share your sermons or teaching with the group and group facilitators--both audio and video.

There will be one week during the summer we will not meet. There is a morning time frame for full-time ministers and an evening time frame for bi-vocational ministers. Of course, either group can jump on the other time frame if it works better for them that particular week.

We will read and discuss this book: Small Preaching: 25 Little Things You Can Do Now to Make You a Better Preacher – by Jonathan T. Pennington
We will use this to evaluate: SCBA Sermon Evaluation Tool
We will meet Tuesdays on Zoom: June 3 -- July 29 @ 10:00 am & 7:00 pm

JUNE 3: Session 1 -- Introduction & Chapters 1-2; 23
JUNE 10: Session 2 -- Chapters 3-6
JUNE 17: Session 3 -- Chapters 7-10
JUNE 24--WILL NOT MEET!!
JULY 1: Session 4 -- Chapters 11-14
JULY 8: Session 5 -- Chapters 15-17
JULY 15: Session 6 -- Chapters 18-20
JULY 22: Session 7 -- Chapters 21-22
JULY 29: Session 8 -- Chapters 24-25 & Conclusion
- The author of the book we will be reading, Dr. Pennington, will be joining us for the final session!

This group is for anyone serving in vocational ministry (pastors, associate, worship, students, children, missions).

Logistics: Meets Monthly on Thursdays; 9:30--Noon with Lunch Out

Learning: In group learning on spiritual disciplines (Starting January 2025)

FBC GONZALES

This group is for pastors seeking to revitalize their churches through a partnership with Pave: Texas Baptist Church Revitalization Strategy.

Leader: Tim Rowell (Flatonia BC) & Kevin Skinner (FBC Stockdale)

Logistics: Starts in 2025 with a two day intensive on February 11 and 12. Once a month thereafter.

Learning: Pave Program (Starting February 2025)

FBC LA VERNIA

This group is for anyone serving in vocational ministry as a second chair leader (associate, worship, students, children, missions).
